Description

This Classic Style Baptism Cake is a delightful treat that symbolizes new beginnings, perfect for celebrating baptisms with family and friends. With its moist cake layers and sweet frosting, it’s designed to be a stunning centerpiece for any joyful occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cake:
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • For the Frosting:
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans, then line the bottoms with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  5. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Prepare the frosting by creaming together the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth. Gradually add the milk and vanilla extract, mixing until fluffy.
  7. Once the cakes are cool, frost the top of one cake layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the entire cake. Decorate as desired.

Notes

  • Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter.
  • Measure flour correctly by spooning it into the measuring cup and leveling off.
  • Check for doneness with a toothpick to avoid overbaking.
  • Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
